Someone asked me today what I thought about the incredible firestorm over immigrants happening right now and I thought, "Oh damn, I was REALLY hoping to have more time to understand this issue before being asked to open my mouth about it."
So I decided to use that as my answer.
And it was fine.
I feel a bit gobsmacked by it and I don't want to say stupid or simplistic things. What should I be reading, please?

Well, this was my take.
I'm planning more on the subject, but it would seem contrarian to put it up right now. (Whether it is reasonable for me to feel contrarian for not blindly agreeing with totally open borders is another question, but I do.)

I don't know if I completely agree with it, but my boss wrote a column for the Chamber's monthly newspaper and it's up under "President's Message" at our website: www.gatewaychamber.com. The topic: immigration of illegals and others.
There is no good solution -- anything proposed hurts someone. The only real way to deal with this would be for their home countries to develop decent jobs with decent pay for them so they can stay home with their friends and families and have a decent life there.
How can we help make that happen? Not likely with this crowd in power....
