Oy.
Not trying to sound dumb, but should ministers not be sleeping with people they call "that guy", or just not be talking about it in public?
*cough* *cough* hehe *cough*
_sigh_
Heeeeeeeeeee.
We could all hope that perhaps she was making an ironic reference to her husband . . .
Probably the next day somebody heard the person next to her saying: "O wow, I got a nice reply note from that minister I slept with the other night!" ;-)
They never post the good stuff on the GA Journal media page...
Elizabeth, just to assuage your anxieties, this minister wasn't talking about it in public but murmuring to herself, and I happened to overhear her.
As far as referring to a lover as "that guy," I think it's fine. I believe that even ministers deserver to have encounters with the Beloved in the form of another human being now and then, too, and EVEN OUTSIDE THE CONTEXT OF A COMMITTED RELATIONSHIP. Nothing wrong with that as long as you send some flowers or a nice e-mail in appreciation.
I can state from direct experience that long periods of unintended celibacy aren't necessary a factor in heightened holiness. Sometimes they just make a girl (or guy) really cranky and frustrated.
Best religion ever!
