Considering A Bowing Out Of One Blog

My dear readers,

A reporter from the Boston Globe has just contacted me asking for a story about my Beauty Tips For Ministers blog. It has been suggested to me that there could be a good book out of my work over there.

It may be that I shut down PeaceBang as a general blog so as to focus on Beauty Tips For Ministers.

As of the end of December, I will have been blogging for two years. It's been a great outlet, a wonderful conversation, and a delightful on-line community.

However, as it seems that the Beauty Tips phenomenon may become something more time-consuming, I will want to be a wise steward of my energies.

Nothing for certain yet, just sharing my preliminary thoughts with you.

PB,

As a reader of both of your blogs, I do have to admit I have Beauty Tips bookmarked. Through you I have learned to keep tweezers in the car, discovered a great new foundation (Maybelline!) and still cannot find a new purse that I love and that suits me. My husband even reads you and we reference you often! I love your voice and spirit in both blogs, but there is definitely something a bit more cheeky and endearing about Beauty Tips. Just my two cents, unsolicited, of course.

I meant cheeky in a good way!

Of course, you could concentrate on Beauty Tips while leaving PeaceBang up and running for the occasional off-topic post. There's no reason both blogs need to be updated perpetually. If PeaceBang were updated only once a month, I'd still read it -- but a lot of its content is especially significant in UU circles and I'd hate to see it go away.

And congrats on the press interest!

As someone who reads Peacebang and doent read Beauty Tips, I am of course not that thrilled about shuting down this blog....
but of course the world doesnt revolve around me and you need to follow your muse....
... but this means i would have to look at beauty tips to find out about your banjo playing and cat photos???
hmm, oh well! '-)

Oh, dear.

As one who is neither a beauty nor a minister, PeaceBang is the one I have bookmarked. If you close it down, I'll miss it terribly, but I'll try to understand.

Well, there you go, the first reviewer quote for the dust jacket: "cheeky and endearing"

Noooooo! Say it ain't so! I enjoy both of your blogs so much that both are bookmarked (at home and work). I agree the tone is more cheeky in the Beauty Tips blog, but I really like reading your insights in this one.

Whatever you decide, I'll still (sniff) read the Beauty Tips. Thank you sharing so much of yourself with us.

It is a pity for those like me who do not care how their ministers --or they as ministers-- look, simply because we do not have a minister (and we don't want to have one)! I hope that your book is successful and that you resurrect Peacebang when you are done with that project.

I have both blogs bookmarked and read them both regularly. I disagree with a bit of what you say on Beauty Tips (only because I think much of it is dependent on where a person lives), but I love it nevertheless.

And I'm with Lynn------I prefer PeaceBang because that's where the rubber hits the road for me, not with appearance, important as it is to look professional.

I would miss Peace Bang a lot. I have learned a lot from you. On more than one occasion, I have even sent a link to one of your posts to the entire email list of my church. (I am very selective as to when I will do that because I do not appreciate lots of stuff being emailed me and I know that many others feel the same way.) However, if your passion is in the Beauty Tips, then I understand that you need to concentrate on it. [Before you ride off into the sunset, I would really appreciate your input on a little discussion I am trying to get going on my blog. It is about the balance (conflict?) between the theist and atheists in our communities, a topic very dear to me.]
Blessings

I love both of your blogs.
I would really miss peacebang the blog because it makes me think and laugh. But mostly because I need to hear what other ministers are thinking about and you say so many needed things. I agree with philocrites about leaving up peacebang the blog.

My two cents!

I should probably not have said "shut down," but maybe "back way off of."

Thanks for weighing in. No hurry on this, really, but I do need to think about it.

I read and enjoy both blogs. PeaceBang is the one I love.

I wonder, reading through what you've been saying here, and recalling things said on both blogs before vacations, whether you have regarded both blogs as Duties.

I hope that you can regard this one as Sheer, Wicked Pleasure. :)

In any case, God bless.

I read both your blogs regularly. I would really miss PeaceBang if you shut it down. As several others have said, why not keep it going and post occasionally?

PB, I"m with Philocrates. Beauty Tips is great, and I admit I go to that first (before Regular PeaceBang), but I would hate to see this blog disappear. Can't you just slow it down a bit? (You? Slow down? Hah!)

Go ahead and write your book; that's a fixed product that will exist in a fixed time. But blogging goes on forever.

In fact, maybe you will want to blog here about writing a book over there!

In honor of delurking week, my first peacebang comment. I read peacebang faithfully, beauty tips occasionally. I think its fabulous you are moving towards publication in one or more forums as you have a very readable voice- in both blogs. I would miss regular posts here, but would understand. I will say that it was THIS blog that played a major role in getting me blogging. Thanks for the inspiration. Blessings whatever you decide.
