Coal Miner's Great Granddaughter

My great-grandfather, Stephen Billo, was a coal miner in Pennsylvania.

This just could not be sadder:

It seems that this coal mine had more than its share of violation. That's bad enough. But to allow a "miscommunication" that had the families of the 13 men believing that they had all survived is just inexcusably horrific.

May they rest in peace.

My coworker was telling me that one of the townspeople was on the news, and when it was announced that there were 12 survivors and 1 dead, that there was rejoicing. The people were gathered at the Baptist church, and the minister asked that the rejoicers come and join him in prayer for the family of the one confirmed dead man. The man on the news said only three people came forward to console the family. The minister asked again that the rejoicers come and pray for the family of the one dead man, but he said they just ignored him, and went on celebrating.
